Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 review

OVERVIEW

Oh we saved the worst for last, I hate Call of Duty. I have for awhile and i don’t see that ever stopping, I think Activision is the worst company in gaming, besides EA. You can tell this game wasn’t as successful as other COD games and you know by how hard they shove micro Transactions down your throat, and how they have completely ignored the community for Black Out. This will pretty much be a hate review for this game and i’m looking forward to it.

GAMEPLAY

If you’ve played one you have played them all, other than no jetpacks and wall running this is just every other COD game packed into a new package with a new name. Standard game modes and no real customization, unless you want to drop $20 for a new skin in the game. Also don’t forget about the $40 hammer they allowed you to purchase with real world money.

GRAPHICS

Just simple COD graphics, I am almost positive they have been using the same engine for COD since MW2 because everything always seems exactly the same to me. I will say that the multiplayer ran smoother for me on my computer but honestly i’m ashamed i even purchased this game, let alone pre ordered it.

ONLINE

WELL, this game is only online, seeing as how this game is a full priced $60 game, they decided to just skip out on the singeplayer and roll with Battle Royal mode instead of working with an actual story to set the stage for the multiplayer. So we are left with a multiplayer competitive modes that have zero support for the staff, and seem like it takes them months and months to even put one thing in thats worth it, and we have a generic BR mode that has already been forgotten about. Seems like not doing singeplayer was really worth it.

SCORE

Game is 4/10 without question, it seems like the more and more they make every year. The worse they become, save your money and wait for something worth it, and save your money this year whenever they come out the next installment as well.

League of Legends: Opinions

OVERVIEW

This won’t be a review of LoL, honestly because to much goes on in this game for me to even be able to talk about it all in one post. The last time i checked i had spent $485 on this game, and years and years playing it. I don’t know the current meta or do i constantly play it now, but what i do know is that this game is an addiction. The only reason i stopped playing it was because i knew if i didn’t get out when i did i would have never stopped, and that $485 would probably be in the thousands by now. What we will talk about is if you haven’t played the game before, should you start now.

GAMEPLAY

League of Legends is a moba, which means “Multiplayer online battle arena” putting that into normal terms means, you and a group of characters fights another group of characters until one completely over runs the other one. this can take 15 minutes, or you can be like me and get into games that stretch well over the hour and a half mark. Stand stills in this game are brutal if you’re just starting out and aren’t able to turn the tide of the battles in your direction. Staying focused in this game is a must, and will make the game go your way much faster, and avoiding the toxic players in this game makes everything better.

GAMEPLAY

playing this game is rage, and everything your teammates due at some point will be annoying and the text chat will be filled with insults. But that’s what makes LoL so fun, the constant yelling and frustration eventually will lead to your team winning the game or the other team giving up. It could end with you giving up and cursing the fact you ever even downloaded the game, which has happened to me multiple times. But i would suggest watching some YouTube videos on how to play, and learn whatever roll you want to play, Mid/Top/Supp/ADC or some good ole jungle action.

ONLINE

We won’t be talking about graphics due to the fact no one watches plays this game for the graphics, you play it for the strategy and competition. Online is all this game is, and seeing how big the tournaments have gotten for this game you can see why. You can practice on bots and then learn new characters and hopefully be able to win in a game with other people, but don’t expect a game with a story line, because you won’t find it in LoL.

League of Legends World Tournament

SCORE/opinion

Don’t get into this game unless you have the time to practice, this isn’t a “pick up for an hour” kind of game, this is a pour hours and hours into so you can hopefully win a couple games type of deal. But if you’re up for a challenge and want to find a game that is rewarding for being becoming good then i would say give it a chance.

Battlefield 5 Review

Overview

As a huge battlefield fan i must say that i was really upset with BF5, avoiding the horrible PR by EA/Dice the overall product just wasn’t what i wanted it to be. It’s hard not to connect experiences i have with new Battlefield games with the old ones that i would pour hours of my time in. this game seems like a water downed micro hungry game that EA is becoming known for, and i don’t like it.

GAMEPLAY

Game play isn’t terrible, and i don’t think Dice sways to far from the core game play that at least made BF1 a success. The problems i have for this game are deeper than that, and honestly might be the reason i have such a problem with this game. You can expect normal game modes, conquest, rush and team deathmatch, all the other ground breaking modes they talked about during the launch of the game weren’t even playable when i gave the game a shot so i have no opinions on them.

GRAPHICS

Everyone knows that Dice knows how to make beautiful looking games, BF5 isn’t one them. in the terms of Battlefield games at least. It doesn’t look or feel like a battlefield game to me, it looks and feels like Battlefront (EA/Dice’s Star Wars game) I feel like they have strayed away from BF3 and Bad Company and have given us a copy pasted game with a forgettable story.

ONLINE

You might think you “hey Dice wasn’t Tryarch and at least they gave us a singeplayer for the $60 we paid) you’d be right, but it’s historically inaccurate and honestly very forgettable. Online is what this game has always been about and even tho i’ve enjoyed the singeplayer from most Battlefield games, you can tell this just was an afterthought. Like i said earlier if you’ve played Battlefield 1 then you won’t be far from home inside BF5 and should be able to pick it up pretty easily, i just got bored very fast and put this game down about 4 days into it.

SCORE

6/10 easy, above average and not terrible, but lately if you’ve played one game you have played them all. I would say save your money and try something else, like World War Z or Runescape.

World War Z Review

Overview

If you love Left 4 Dead you will love this game, taking elements from past zombie games and mixing it in with the new graphics and the ability to spawn it feels like thousands of zombies at once. This game gets the blood pumping with different difficulty settings, and all out zombie mayhem.

GAMEPLAY

I said this before while i was playing this game, it feels like someone modded The Division 2 and added a horde mode. And i have for one don’t think this is a bad idea, not every game that comes out needs to be some epic life changing game. It just has to be fun, and for $40 you can’t get more fun then shooting hundreds and hundreds of zombies with your friends and while laughing the whole time at how stupid certain certain situations are. The missions are very similar throughout the whole game, while you do get to change characters and even countries you are in, it doesn’t really change what the game is. “Left 4 Dead in The Division” but it is well worth the money you spend on it.

GRAPHICS

Being built off of The Division assets this game is beautiful, Running on my decently powered PC i ran into zero issues running and recording this game. 1080p, 60fps is what this game was made for, and the optimization is top notch.

ONLINE

The beauty of this game is the online play, having multiple game modes to play in makes this game have what seems like endless hours of fun with your friends. Even the competitive game modes are a lot of fun, and i didn’t expect to like any of that as much as i did. World War Z was meant to be played with friends, and once you get used to it, try and crank the difficulty up and see how long you and some buddies can last.

SCORE

I would love to give this game a perfect score, but it is mostly just copied and pasted assets from another game which surely has to knock the game down a few pegs. It still is very much worth the money at only $40 compared to a $60 AAA release, and i think we need to reward companies who are fair with the prices of products they are selling and the game is easily a 8/10 and with no micro transactions that i can see as of yet, it brings it up a little.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

Overview

This game seems to be the one that will never die, no matter how many years separate this game from it’s launch date it never dies. From November 11, 2011 until April 23, 2019 this game is still being played by every single one of my friends, and i don’t see that ever stopping.

GAMEPLAY

from starting off as a prisoner to exploring one of the most beautiful and largest map in Elder Scrolls history, i must say this game really is what you make of it. You can complete the main story and save the side stuff until later or you can dive straight into running around as a thief, or get into the mages guild and explore that. Everything you do in this game feels important, and at no time will you feel like you have wasted time doing something.

GRAPHICS

Are they dated? of course, this game was released in 2011. But is it something that is so easy to overcome? absolutely, it is still beautiful, and with Mods and the remastered version available it’s not anything to worry about, and you will still love every second of it.

ONLINE

Skyrim is a 100% a singleplayer experience, but what makes this game so amazing is the modding community. if you want to make all the dragons in this game chickens, i am almost 100% positive you can find a mod for it. Even if you want to make this game multiplayer they have a mod so your friends can join in on the adventure they have it. Making the game look even better with mods is something some passionate people have done, it makes the gaming endlessly enjoyable, and one of the reason this game has stayed in the spotlight for so many years.

SCORE

This is once again a game i must give a 10/10, i feel like it’s becoming a theme. The games i play through until the end and after are games that i enjoy. I am coming to force myself to play some new and different games and try and add some spice to the reviews.

Runescape Review

GAMEPLAY

Okay i mean, come on. One of the first video games i ever played and still play to this day, the grinding of levels to get my first 99, to my first time slaying the queen black dragon. This game sucks your life away until the only thing you think about is when is the next time i will be able to log in. Being developed as a browser based game from 2001 until finally having a client, this game is still just as amazing now as it was in 2006 when i first logged into my account.

GRAPHICS

No one can ever tell me Runescape isn’t a beautiful game, you might not think it is super flashy but from where it first started it looks amazing. What matters in this game tho isn’t the graphics tho, it’s the time you spend on your character, the grind of getting every skill to 99 and getting a skill cape, and collecting as much GP as humanly possible.

ONLINE

Well, this game is only playable online. from 2001 until now it has been one of the most played MMORPGs on the market, being as it is Free2Play as well as offering a subscription based membership which unlocks even more content and skills for you to explore. I have had my membership constantly being renewed since 2015 and i don’t see myself letting it run out anytime soon.

Score

Two 10/10s back to back? this is gotta be a record. Diving into the games of my past and future 100% plays a roll onto the score of these games, you may not think it’s a 10/10 but hey, it’s my blog so get over it.

MineCraft Review

GAMEPLAY

What can really be said about one of the greatest video games of all time? Whenever i logged back into this game it let me know that i had purchased it in 2010, 1 year after the launch of this title it was everywhere. Every kid that i could remember played this game, or wanted to play it. They brought it to console somewhere in 2014-15 and since then it has been one of the most successful games in history. The beauty of this game is that it is whatever you want it to be, nothing holds you back but your imagination. Build whatever and whenever and just try to survive is what makes this game so fun, at no time will you become bored but if you do, just mod the game until you change it into a completely different experience all together.

GRAPHICS

The vanilla graphics of this game are just a classic, the blocky features are what makes this game so easy to spot and what is so easy on the eyes. With any game that supports community modding, you get texture packs and shaders to completely change the way the game looks if you want to do that. I for one, will always love the vanilla experience of Minecraft.

ONLINE

The greatest experience of this game is the online play, building a world for you and your friends to call home. The amount of hours I’ve spent in this game building cities inside of a mountain just for my friends to come and blow it up with TNT, or just build something over top of me and try and keep locked inside. The online play of this game is never ending, and something that ever gamer needs to experience at least once.

SCORE

Without a doubt this is the first game on my list of reviews that gets a 10/10. This is a game that everyone needs to play at least once.

Rocket league Review

GAMEPLAY

I don’t know where to start with this game. It is soccer but with cars, you drive around in an RC car and hit an oversized soccer ball into a goal, You don’t get a game better. the only negative i would have about this game is very large skill gap at the start. You have to actually practice this game and learn the movements if you want to have any chance of being semi decent.

GRAPHICS

Rocket League has a certain look about it that you can spot from a mile away, no other game captures the eye like Rocket League does. The arcade look of this game and the colors are really something beautiful.

ONLINE

Online play in Rocket League is the bread and butter of this competitive game, Singleplayer is really only for practice, placing the ball in certain awkward areas so you’d learn how to counter someone else’s play style. Rocket League even has its own pro league, RLC which plays in certain large arenas for a prize pool.

SCORE

I would easily give this game a 8/10, i would go even higher if the learning curve for the game was less steep. Being a new player in this game is really punishing, as it should be. But from looking at the game as not a veteran player i would have to lower my original score of a 9/10.

Outward Review

GAMEPLAY

Gameplay for outward is a bit of a weird one, this isn’t any regular RPG. Outward is more about the journey then the destination, combining things we all know like a leveling and skill system, with more of a survival based game. Things you have to be afraid of in this game are monsters and the common cold, you can get sickness and become dehydrated and starving in this game. Constantly checking the map will do nothing for you, it does not show your location as the game wants you to venture out of your comfort zone and explore the beautiful world. Combat would be something more alike to Dark Souls as it would be to say a Skyrim. But after some time to adjust you should get the hang of it.

GRAPHICS

I don’t even know where to start on how beautiful this game is. From the moment you step into this fantasy world you are greeted with beautiful visuals, and a constant understanding of how small you are in this world. so many caves and mountains and different cities and towns, one thing you will not be disappointed by is how beautiful this game is.

ONLINE

No online play in this game, which i know it kind of odd in how today’s world is when it comes to gaming. What this game does have is true co-op, grab a friend and jump into this world and explore. you can do absolutely everything in this game with a friend, from the started missions until the end. That is something the gaming world has been missing for a long time, and i am welcoming it as much as possible.

SCORE

I think it be kind of obvious how much i enjoy this game, i have put a lot of time solo and with friends, and today’s lack of true gaming experiences (aka games not sold as a “live service”) i think all owe Deep Sliver a giant thank you for making a game actually worth our time and energy. Game is an easy 10/10, buy it.

SCUM Review

Main loading screen and icon for the game.

GAMEPLAY

This is an odd one, if you aren’t into survival games or zombie games i don’t think you will enjoy this one. It’s all about eating, drinking and trying not to die. Most of this game consists of walking for an extremely long period of time and then trying to find something to eat, maybe find a gun but no ammo. Finally with the latest update they added cars, the map is giant and trying to walk about 24/7 turns out to be a bigger problem then you would think at the start of playing the game. But with all that being said i have put more then 400+ hours into this game with no end in sight. Constant fun of shooting and looting with your friends is a lot of fun and i wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Sometimes, stealthy is better.

GRAPHICS

This is kind of “in the eyes of the beholder” kind of thing, i for one love the look of this game and could play it for hours and hours without getting tired of it. I think in today’s society we look to much into graphics and not enough into gameplay. So for me the graphics don’t take away from the game but it also doesn’t really add anything either.

we call this one the “thinking man”

ONLINE

Okay now this is where the game truly shines, playing with friends for hours trying to set up a base and keep it locked down and hope that one day you log back on someone hasn’t figured out where all of your stuff is. Running around all day trying to loot bunkers and bases. The grind for looting is what keeps you moving everyday. the vast open map is honestly mind blowing how much there is in this game to explore and find, and the company constantly adds updates and tries to make the game more enjoying. Hotfixes and content are constant things you will see on the Steam page.

Starting off into the game with some friends.

SCORE

With updates for stability and constant content updates and an open conversation with the development team, i will easilyhave to give this game a 8/10 it would be higher when some of the bugs get worked out and if they would ever allow another company to host servers for them. (g-portal is a mess) and in private servers the ability to set up max loot and more or less zombies is just insanely fun, you will get way more content and enjoyment out of this game then most AAA title games, and for $20 price tag that is a steal.
